Similarly, roundworms also live in animal feces and you are likely to get these if you touch or handle your pet’s excreta. Hookworms live in soil and walking barefoot allows them to enter your body through your soles.
Ways to counter worm infestations
If you want to stay safe from the presence of pinworms or their eggs on your body, wash your hands regularly. Do not use personal things used by others like clothes, towels, bed linens etc. Reese’s Pinworm Medicine or Vermox are common medicines for eliminating pinworms. As for roundworm infections, you need to destroy its lifecycle by taking pyrantel pamoate based medications for a month.
Hookworms need to be treated with prescriptions drugs like mebendazole or albendazole for at least 2-3 weeks. The easiest way to keep tapeworms at bay is to get rid of fleas that work as its carrier. Using a de-wormer like Nylar or Methoprene can destroy fleas from both humans and pets.
