How to get rid of Morning Sickness? - Problems caused by morning sickness



 

By morning sickness is generally meant the tendencies of nausea and vomiting faced by a pregnant woman. This is mostly observed in the first week of pregnancy ad gradually subsides around the completion of 14-16 weeks. However, the symptoms could vary from woman to woman. While some women feel nauseated in the first week and start vomiting from the third week, others could face morning sickness any time throughout the course of their pregnancy.

Causes of morning sickness

You may face the worst cases of morning sickness under emotional stress or undertaking a journey during your pregnancy. It is generally the result of hormonal fluctuations and low blood sugar level but does not affect the health or absorption of nutrition of the fetus.

Preventive measures against morning sickness  

Although it is a natural phenomenon, you could reduce the frequencies of morning sickness by taking a balanced diet, comprising of foods rich in Vitamin B6 and drinking adequate quantities of water. You should ever take your diet too late in the night. Beginning your morning with a dry toast could also help. Stay away from fatty foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, crackers etc. Refrain from smoking.    

Some immediate measures to counter morning sickness

Eating or drinking ginger products like ginger tea, ginger soda, ginger ale or ginger candy brigs immediate relief to morning sickness. Smelling some fresh lemons help fight tendencies of nausea. Staying away from sickening smells and odors, like those of perfumes, soaps or food products is a useful measure.

Take your time for getting out of the bed once you are wake up. A feeling of urgency and rushing to the working place often cater to morning sickness. You could try locating the spot immediately above your navel and apply pressure on it to ward off morning sickness.
