A beautiful hairstyle depends almost entirely on the way the hair is shaped. While shaping the hair, facial features and body proportions must be taken into consideration. The hair must be cut in a way that each and every hair should fall gracefully into place at all times.

Grey hair is a curse. General health, mental tension, overwork and illness lead to premature greying. Hair color in India started from the traditional henna and proceeded to chemical dyes. To get a good result of color in henna, add the contents of an iron capsule to the henna mixture, it will give a deep brown tint. Use hair color which suits the skin tone and hair texture. The primary pigments are Red, Yellow and Blue. Yellow is the lightest and blue is the darkest primary color. The dark tints contain more blue pigment and light tints contain more yellow pigment. Tints of a medium depth contain the most red pigment. The combination of two primary pigments in equal parts produce a secondary color. Tertiary colors are formed by mixing primary and one of the secondary colors in equal parts.

In the mid nineties, modern, ammonia based colors became popular. The biggest disadvantage of chemical dyes is that it may have an adverse effect on some types of skin. The symptoms of such ill-effects are violent itching all over the scalp. This is quickly followed by swelling of the .scalp, the ears, the eyelids and also the face. Remember, always have a 'Patch Test' to avert having an adverse effect. To avoid further mishap, rinse the hair with a solution of chloride (kitchen salt) diluted in water. Mix 100 gms salt to one litre of water and add a tablespoonful of hydrogen peroxide. Rinse twice a day. Do not color the hair in case conditions such as menstruation, pregnancy, asthma, heart problems, kidney trouble, skin diseases, breast feeding, extremely dry hair or falling of hair prevail. If you feel burning sensation while hair coloring, stop operations immediately and have a skin test.

The advanced, modern method hair fashion colors are the latest third generation techniques to have hit the Indian market. These most hair-friendly colors contain minimum ammonia content to open the cuticles of the hair and do not leave them damaged. The fashion color contains soyabean oil, wheat phyto-proteins and coconut oil. Against the sun fadage effect, they have sun protection factor as an ingredient as well. These qualities of color make them not only the most hair-friendly production but their application guarantees a hundred percent result.

Hair with uneven patches of grey throughout may be most challenging to conceal. In order to cover grey completely try to maintain as near as possible the natural hair color, and it must be applied from the scalp to the ends. Today, hair coloring is a chemistry capable to dye hair in colors of your choice giving a shine and luster. A thorough study of hair texture and its color is necessary before applying color. The quality of color depends upon the mixing ratio of hair color and the developer. The consultation of an experienced beauty therapist is a must. Read carefully the instructions over the packing for better results. There are generally three types of fashion colors applied on the hair: to apply color on the base when they turn grey from the base, application of fashion color according to the choice of color and streaking multi colors on the hair. Application of multi-colors is now very much in demand. Always shampoo the hair after coloring, which locks the open pores.

A good shampoo and conditioner will help you enormously. For preparing shampoo, combine two egg yolks with two tablespoons of odorless linseed oil and two tablespoons of rum (liquor). Soak the hair, then rinse off with warm water. This is good especially for dry hair. Remember, short hair is normally healthier than long hair. Breaking hair or hair which splits at the ends, has usually been badly treated due to over-exposure to sun or over-perming; and a good shampoo and conditioner will help you enormously. You can easily make a conditioner yourself and massage well into the scalp. Mix together 1 egg, 2 tablespoons castor oil, 1 teaspoon vinegar and 1 tablespoon glycerin. Beat well and massage into the scalp. This conditioner will make hair look thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.
