Scalp Psoriasis Treatment and Cure


What is Psoriasis of scalp ?

Psoriasis of scalp is one of the type psoriasis which is common and usual skin disorder characterized by thick silvery white scale on patches of very red skin and it is recurring disorder. It is commonly occur on the back of the head but any area of the scalp may be affected. It occurs at least half of all people with psoriasis. The condition is not infectious and also not severe therefore it doesn’t affect to the general health.

Causes of Psoriasis of scalp

The cause of Psoriasis of scalp is not known completely but it may occur due to hereditary or it may occur because of immune system disorder. Disorder in enzymes, and other biochemical substances may also be a reason for this disease and other than this environmental factors, like weather or stress may also trigger Psoriasis.

Symptoms of Psoriasis of scalp

Psoriasis of scalp doesn’t create any symptoms but sometime it may occur as a chronic problem. It may occur as lesion which extend from the hairline to the forehead and the nape of the neck and it also occur behind the ear. People with this disease may experience itchy, red, scaly skin and some people may loss their hair but hair can regrow. Some patients with scalp psoriasis may also have psoriasis in their other part of the body but it is mostly affect to the scalp.

Treatment of Psoriasis of scalp

• Topical medications like shampoos, lotions, creams, foams, and oils are the best treatment for scalp psoriasis.
• Scalp psoriasis require daily hair wash.
• Moderate sunlight contact is beneficial for scalp psoriasis.
• Sunburn should be avoided otherwise psoriasis may occur in the affected skin
• FDA-approved prescription like corticosteroids, retinoids, calcipotriene, and coal tar products are useful in reducing the skin cell production and skin inflammation.
• Light therapy is also useful for the treatment of scalp psoriosis.
• Tar products and salicylic acid are very effective treatment in mild scalp psoriasis.
• Some medicated shampoo which contain ketaconazel, tar, anpyrithione zinc etc are helpful for this disease.

Prevention tips for Scalp Psoriasis

  • Avoiding environmental factors that trigger psoriasis, such as smoking, sun exposure, and stress, may help prevent or minimize flare-ups of psoriasis. Sun exposure may help in many cases of psoriasis and aggravate it in others.
  • Alcohol is considered a risk factor for psoriasis in young to middle-aged men. Avoid or minimize alcohol use if you have psoriasis.
  • pecific dietary restrictions or supplements other than a well-balanced and adequate diet are unimportant in the management of plaque psoriasis.
