Fashion Trend for Men and Women in 20s



 

In the 1920s women started to work as an employee or staff member so fashion becomes more practical and valuable to express their independence. Short hair, smoking publicly, lipstick, and enthusiasm for driving car were fashion trend in 1920s. During the 1920s fashion that followed by flappers are also popular today.


Women's Fashion in 20s

  • Appearance-In 1920s flapper started wearing skirts that were cut above or just below the knees. Tops become sleeveless and of lower cut which become popular.
  • Makeup-Women started wearing make up during 20s. Make up mainly includes putting deep and dark lipstick shades. Dark red and pink colors were popular lipstick shades of that time.
  • Cloche hat -Cloche Hats are popular through out twenties. Cloche hats had a basic bell curve containing rounded crowns which if properly designed might add inches to the height of the wearer giving the proud look.
  • Bob Hairstyle-Bob Hairstyle is most widespread fashion in 1920s because women were comfortable with this hairstyle during working time.
  • Stockings-Flesh and soft pastel colors made by silk were very popular in stockings. Instead of the heavy materials lighter materials were used for making stockings.
  • Shoes-Strapped shoe which was called as Mary Janes are very famous in twenties. T shape and having buckles and bows were also fashionable during 20s.

Men’s Fashion in 20s

A men’s started wearing short jacket instead of long one having only two or three buttons. Short tuxedo, sweaters and pants that are up to knee were popular in 20s men’s. Stylish pinstriped suits and Oxford bags were popular in those days.

Famous Fashion Icons and fashion Designer of 1920s

Hollywood stars such as Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Rudolph Valentino and Louise Brooksand were the fashion icons for people during 1920s. Jean Patou, and Coco Chanel are fashion designers who are responsible for introducing athletic or sportsmen look. French designer Jeanne Lanvin was responsible for introducing complicated trimmings, embroideries and excellent decorations. The London cut introduced by English tailor Scholte was also famous design in 20s.
